Get to Know Dr. Danielle Duarte
Dr. Duarte says that the goal of opening Bowdental of Evanston was to create a dental office that fits her and her husband’s (Dr. Bowden) philosophy of care, and she says now that they’ve done it, she’s living the dream! She can’t wait to welcome you and your loved ones into our dental office and help you achieve a better state of oral health. Before that, however, you can learn a little more about Dr. Duarte below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Duarte’s dad was an ER doctor, so she knew from an early age that she wanted to go into healthcare. Dentistry caught her eye after an accident in which she flew off an innertube on a lake, hit her face on a friend’s head, and chipped three teeth (ouch). She was so interested in how her dentist was able to repair her teeth. She also had a large gap between her two front teeth, and after orthodontics was able to close it, she knew that dentistry was the profession for her!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Duarte started her collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame, and she eventually earned her dental degree from the Marquette University School of Dentistry. She then completed a General Practice Residency at the Loyola Medical Center, where she worked in the emergency department and got to treat young children and people with special needs.
Dr. Duarte also worked in the oral surgery department at Hines VA and attended a weeklong, hands-on dental implant course where she learned how to place them as well as complete bone grafts.
Always striving to learn and improve, she is a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and SPEAR Education.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
When she isn’t relaxing with her husband after a long week, you’ll usually find Dr. Duarte lifting weights and working out in her free time. She is also really into food and likes to bake (chocolate chip cookies in particular), explore new restaurants, and try new recipes. She enjoys reading Stephen King as well.
